The making process

Each Visual Confection starts with a metal framework, which the artist decorates with a series of interwoven neighborhoods of clustered forms.

The artist's methods reflect the centeredness that rises from the contemplative act of arranging objects. Rather than being sorted into strict categories and taxonomies, the materials enjoy the freedom of intuitively ordered worlds.

The sculptures include finds from second-hand and antique stores, and small businesses that specialize in reclaim and reuse such as Etsy and eBay. The Visual Confections started in Philadelphia, and The Resource Exchange was a great and inspiring source. There's always mix of new and vintage.
